                                                Truck Cooperative

Three members of the Dexter-Miller Community have formed an informal non-profit truck cooperative to get the truck owned by one of us back into operation.  One has  donated use of the truck, another has donated time and expertise to make the needed repairs,  and one had donated the money to pay for the repairs.  Our efforts have been successful and we now are ready to accept additional members in the truck cooperative.

The truck is a  2002 Ford Ranger  with approximately 26,000 miles.  It's an Edge model with 2 wheel drive, a 3.0 Liter V-6 engine, automatic transmission, air conditioning, a towing package (2 inch ball and running lights) and a removable bed cap with liner.  Several photographs are attached.

The DexMil Board has agreed to pay the annual registration fee and we intend to  cover minor repairs and insurance through user donations per mile of use.  An Initiation fee is charged new members upon joining to help cover some of the sunk c osts already spent to get the truck operating and to help create a contingency fund to pay for future repairs.  The fee is $20 for current members of DEXMIL and $30 for non DEXMIL members.

The following operating principals will guide us for the first six months of operation beginning June 1st.   A meeting of members of the truck coop will be held in November to review the rules, elect officers, and make whatever changes seem called for.  Membership in the truck coop will be limited to 25 persons admitted in order of receipt of their membership application.

All members of the truck cooperative will be expected to donate 50 cents per mile of truck use  with a minimum fee of $5.00 per reservation.  Individual members will be billed at the end of each month.  DEXMIL members who have not joined the truck coop may  request use of the truck with a donation of $1.00 per mile and a $10 minimum.  Their donations are to be made when the truck is returned.

Before using the truck everyone must show a valid drivers license and proof that their own automobile insurance covers their personal liability and medical costs when driving a borrowed vehicle.  Those without a license or insurance may ask the truck's owner to drive in return for 4 DexMil per hour.  A log is provided in the truck and users must enter their name, date of use, and beginning and ending mileage in the log.  The secretary will use the log in billing each member at the beginning of the following month.

A Google calendar is used for making reservations for truck use and all members of the truck coop are expected to register their requested use of the truck on that calendar.  Each of the three original members of the truck coop (Feldt, Hale, and Todd)  has a key for the truck and they all live within a few blocks of each other.  Usually the truck will be parked in Todd's driveway off Bruce Street in the rear of 2012 Arborview Blvd.   Maximum length of a reservation is 4 hours.  The truck is to be returned to its  original place.  If gas is purchased while in use, make a not in the truck LOG  and your mileage charges will be credited for that amount.    .  .

These rules are subject to change at the November meeting and anyone dissatisfied with the revised rules may resign and be reimbursed half their initial donation at that time.  .

If you are interested in joining this cooperative, call or email DM ID # 11, 14 , or 40.
